In the beginning God 

[created]

the heavens and the earth.

To experience first hand, know & sense… We have to go to the beginning of the story.

Genesis 1 - Turn there in your paper Bible if possible. Look at the well known words on the page.

Read Genesis 1:1-3

In the beginning God 

[created]

the heavens and the earth.The earth was formless and void,

and darkness was over the surface of the deep,

and the [Spirit]

of God

was [moving over]

the surface of the waters.

Then God said, "Let there be light "; and there was light. Genesis 1:1-3

In the beginning God CREATED - He shaped all that we experience and sense.

In the creating…

the [Spirit] of God was

[moving] over the surface of the waters.

5 more weeks until we celebrate the resurrection. Here's the thing...

We cannot ponder the Cross or the Resurrection without involving the Spirit of God.

He must hover & move. He must be in the conversation.

Take some time this week to focus on [SPIRIT]!

Not for knowledge sake. But for conversation sake.

As you do - ask Him to prepare you to live in the stories and songs of the Cross.

  • write out Genesis 1:1-3

  • leave space and write slowly

  • stare at the familiar words

  • circle - connect

  • write out prayers that connect what is going on in your world today with these words

DIG & DISCUSS

  • Build on words like [create] [spirit] [hover] - scroll up and click on the words

  • Write down the Hebrew definitions of these words

  • Look at some other verses with this word SPIRIT - paint pictures in your mind with the other verses and stories

  • Remember! You must dig and discover first hand.

  • Jot down anything that comes to mind about Spirit

  • Find a few people that you can talk about these words with. As you talk - “watch” them move around!

  • Keep turning these words over in your mind

  • Picture it. Pray it. Throughout the day. Hovering over you. Hovering over those you love.

  • "Holy Spirit, hover over and around me"

  • "Hover over _______ and _______"

  • “Shake up…”

These familiar words from Genesis make for great conversation with God:

Spirit of God - You are here!

You are the very essence of God - left here on earth for me - You make me KNOW God first hand.

Thank you - that because you are here I can pray -

Thy will be done - on earth as it is in heaven!

Create and shape my mind - my thoughts - my heart

Father - prepare me to experience the truth of the Cross

The HOPE of LIFE - now & forever!

HOVER - breathe - blow through the caverns of my soul.

Shake what needs to be shaken.

Lead me to the Cross. One step at a time.

My eyes fixed on you - The author - who was from the beginning - and perfecter of my faith.

LOOK & LISTEN

  • look for wind this week.

  • notice breath

  • ask the Spirit to speak to you through these physical signs
